Jersey Election ’22 candidate forum
Jersey election candidates are invited to an informal ‘drop-in’ event where representatives from the Island’s various industries and demographic groups will be ready to discuss the issues important to them over the next four years, and beyond.
Amongst the sectors and communities represented are: Sport, Fisheries, Energy, Children, Disability, Digital, Finance, Agriculture, Construction and Primary Care, with more to be confirmed. The event provides an opportunity for prospective candidates to talk directly to individuals at the heart of these organisations, to help inform their views ahead of finalising their manifestos.
The Vote.je team and Jersey Electoral Authority will also be on hand to answer questions about the election process and explain more about the support available to new Members after the election.
The event takes place between 12pm and 2pm at St Helier Town Hall and is free to attend.
Jenny O’Brien, Head of Digital and Public Engagement said, “Our aim is to connect potential candidates with local organisations to help them be better informed about the broad spectrum of Island issues, which we hope will help them prepare their manifestos and be ready to answer questions at the hustings in May – June.
“We’re keen to see anyone thinking about standing for election at Thursday’s event, you don’t have to have publicly declared your intention to stand. Some people may still be deciding whether to stand or finding the whole process a bit daunting. Hopefully this event will provide people with a better understanding of what is involved and reassurance that help and support is available.”
