Jeremy Bowen: The making of the Modern Middle East – A personal history

TV journalist and writer Jeremy Bowen’s Guernsey Literary Festival event has been rescheduled for Thursday 28th September at St James.

Jeremy Bowen, who had to pull out of the Festival in May, will be talking about his recent book The Making of the Modern Middle East – a Personal History.

The rescheduled talk, which is sponsored by Carey Olsen will be on September 28 at 7.30 at St James.

Jeremy Bowen, the International Editor of the BBC, has been covering the Middle East since 1989 and is uniquely placed to explain its complex past and its troubled present. He will take the audience on a journey across the Middle East and through its history, meeting ordinary men and women on the front line and their leaders, both brutal or benign, and exploring the power games that have so often wreaked devastation on civilian populations as those leaders, whatever their motives, jostle for political, religious and economic control.

The original event in May was a sell-out and tickets for this one are already selling well. They are available from the Festival website, or by calling the festival box office on 07781 143545 between 9am-5pm.
