Island Seascapes: a concert by renowned Pianist, Iwan Llewelyn-Jones
Victoria College is thrilled to announce a captivating piano concert featuring acclaimed pianist Iwan Llewelyn-Jones, set to take place on Wednesday, 16 October in the Great Hall.
This event marks the celebration of a brand-new Yamaha grand piano, a fantastic addition to the College’s musical resources, which is only possible once every generation.
Iwan Llewelyn-Jones, a celebrated Steinway Artist and Director of Music Performance at Bangor University, is regarded as one of the finest pianists of his generation. His impressive credentials include serving as the Artistic Director for the Wales International Piano Festivals in both 2016 and 2021. Iwan’s significant contributions to Welsh music have earned him several prestigious awards, including the Sir Geraint Evans Award.
The concert will feature an exciting and varied program that pays homage to island life, with pieces by renowned composers such as Chopin, Gershwin and Beethoven. A highlight will be the performance of “Le Catioroc” by John Ireland, a piece composed during his visit to Jersey.
