IoD Spring Seminar
The Guernsey Branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) will focus its 2025 Spring Seminar on overcoming stagnation and its impact on the island’s future economic growth and prosperity. The annual event, formerly known as the Mid Term, builds on last year’s Convention theme of social capital and will take place on Wednesday, 26 March, from 7:45 am to 10 am at St Pierre Park.
The seminar will feature Andrew Doyle, author of Reinvention Guernsey, a book that examines how Guernsey has transformed its economy seven times over the past 500 years. The most recent reinvention, the finance industry, establishing Guernsey as a globally recognised ‘brand’, is now 60 years old. In his book, Mr Doyle explores the rise and fall of its six predecessors and the lessons they offer for ensuring the continued success and growth of Guernsey’s current economy.
After the keynote, a fireside chat will take place, with additional speakers to be announced in due course.
The seminar aims to address concerns that Guernsey is stagnating and that more collaborative action is needed to tackle emerging issues, threats, and challenges, as highlighted in the social capital report from the IoD Convention last October.
