Harnessing the collective intelligence of the board

The Institute of Directors (IoD) Guernsey branch is pleased to announce its forthcoming November breakfast, taking place on Friday 22 November.

The event will be led by strategic communications expert Megan Pantelides, Executive Director of Research at Board Intelligence, and will focus on how directors can enhance their contributions to their board.

During this session, Megan will explore what it takes to be a director and how board members can add value to both their own work and that of their fellow directors through effective board conversations. Drawing on over 15 years of experience working with boards and leadership teams, the session will introduce ‘collective intelligence’ and how it can be leveraged to benefit organisations. Megan is also author of the successful Collective Intelligence: How to Build a Business that’s Smarter than You. The book was shortlisted for the 2024 Business Book Awards and looks at dispelling common myths about board leadership whilst offering practical tips for fostering smarter, more impactful discussions in the boardroom.

Megan’s background includes strategy consulting and executive search before joining Board Intelligence in 2018. Since then, she has helped shape the company’s thought leadership and led client engagement with the Private Equity and Trust & Corporate Services sectors. Board Intelligence, a leading provider of board management software and advisory services, supports over 4,000 organisations and 70,000 directors globally, including notable Guernsey-based firms such as JTC, Oak Group, Apex, and the Guernsey Competition & Regulatory Authority.

Jo Huxtable, Vice-Chair of the IoD Guernsey Branch, said: “The IOD in Guernsey is passionate about helping directors to acquire new knowledge and skills.  This is an exciting opportunity for directors to learn the lessons of some of the most successful global businesses about creating the right conditions on the board for everyone to contribute and apply their personal style and intellect to the problems that matter most.  This subject is of particular relevance to IOD members following on from the recent Convention since this focus on the importance of personal interactions and collaboration is social capital in action!”

This breakfast session promises to be an invaluable learning experience for directors and board members looking to sharpen their leadership skills and improve board dynamics.

The event is kindly sponsored by Skipton International.
