HSBC East Meets West concert (evening)
The Jersey Lunar New Year Festival 2026 will open with the HSBC East Meets West Concert, a flagship cultural event celebrating dialogue, connection, and shared values through music.
The concert will take place at the Jersey Opera House, with two performances scheduled – one in the afternoon and one in the evening – welcoming audiences of different ages to take part.
As corporate sponsor, HSBC supports the East Meets West Concert as a central moment of the festival, reflecting its long-standing heritage of connecting cultures and communities. The concert presents East Meets West as an ongoing conversation, where musical languages and cultural influences meet naturally and respectfully.
The programme brings together orchestral music alongside traditional Chinese instruments, and features collaboration between local musicians, and musicians from China and the UK, reflecting the festival’s emphasis on cultural exchange and learning.
The 2026 Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the Year of the Horse, a symbol associated with energy, progress, and movement. These themes run through the concert and the wider festival, which celebrates renewal, forward momentum, and coming together at the start of the new year.
Commenting on the East Meets West concerts and educational support, Warwick Long, CEO of HSBC in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man said: “We are very proud to be sponsoring these events. HSBC was founded in Hong Kong 161-years ago, to help finance trade between Europe and Asia. Celebrating the Lunar New Year is an important part of the bank’s culture and heritage and it’s wonderful to share these celebrations with the Jersey community.”
The Jersey Lunar New Year Festival 2026 is supported by the Creative Island Partnership, Government of Jersey, and delivered by Learn.je. Alongside its headline cultural events, the festival places strong emphasis on children and young people, with education activities, creative workshops, and family-friendly resources running alongside the performance programme.
