Hidden Worlds exhibition

From Tardigrades to slime, Jersey Zoo’s latest exhibition takes you to a “Hidden World.”

Discover the “Hidden Worlds” among us at Jersey Zoo’s latest immersive pop-up exhibition.

The event, which will run from 25 March until 23 April, will allow visitors to explore life as a microscopic organism. From bacteria to cell colonies, you’ll be able to meet the tiny living microbes that have been present since before the dinosaurs.

After donning a lab coat at entry, visitors will be transported to Jersey Zoo’s makeshift lab in the Discovery Centre. This family friendly exhibition, which allows children and adults to turn in to scientists for the day, has the aim of developing a curiosity about different the types of bacteria among us and their role on the planet.

Activities at Hidden Worlds include slime making, UV handwashing, exploring life through a microscope, arts and crafts and even a giant tardigrade!

Dr Ivan Muscat, Medical Microbiologist at Jersey General Hospital and Jersey Zoo’s Veterinary Support Manager, Theresa Ruellan, have also been interviewed for the event, covering where microbes are found, how they were discovered and how they affect animals.

Speaking about the exhibition, Graeme Dick, Director of Zoo Operations at Jersey Zoo commented: “We are excited to transport our visitors to a hidden world at our latest immersive exhibition. These family-friendly events at Jersey Zoo aim to inspire the future generation of conservationists and scientists, so showing life behind the lens is one way we hope to do this. The exhibition is on for four weeks, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our visitors into this unknown world.”

Entry to Hidden Worlds is free for Jersey Zoo members. Normal admissions apply for non-members.
