Here for Life exhibition: 35 Years of Les Bourgs Hospice

A powerful new photographic exhibition celebrating the people and community behind Les Bourgs Hospice will open this summer in the Brian White Gallery at Guernsey Museum, Candie.

‘Here for Life: 35 Years of Les Bourgs Hospice’ marks the Hospice’s 35th anniversary and will run from 18 July to 27 September. It brings together a striking series of portraits by award-winning photographer Aaron Yeandle, capturing the people whose dedication, compassion and commitment have helped shape the Hospice over the past three and a half decades.

The exhibition tells a deeply human story of care, compassion and community. Through powerful photography and personal moments, it honours the volunteers, staff, supporters and people who helped establish the Hospice, as well as those who continue to support its vital work.

The portraits shine a light on many of the individuals whose time, skill and kindness have made the Hospice what it is today, offering visitors a rare and moving glimpse into the community behind the organisation.

Commenting on the exhibition, Aaron Yeandle said: “I am deeply honoured to have been invited to photograph the people behind Les Bourgs Hospice for this exhibition celebrating its 35th anniversary. My approach to this project is grounded in contemporary portraiture, while resonating with both historical and contemporary traditions. The aim is to create images that feel personal and intimate, shaped by both the working environment and the studio setting.”

Les Bourgs Hospice Chief Executive Officer Rob Jones said: “Sometimes you get the opportunity to do something really special as a charity to raise awareness and this year, our 35th year, the chance came up to work with Guernsey Museum. We owe a huge debt of thanks to the mastermind of our Hospice Chaplain, Dr Rev Adrian Datta who came up with the concept, the team at Guernsey Museums and everyone who’s worked tirelessly to bring about this celebration of Les Bourgs. Aaron’s photography offers a candid portrayal of the people of Les Bourgs, revealing the community who made – and continue to make – such a huge difference to the island.”
