Healthy Lifestyle Show

Bowel Cancer Guernsey is marking its 25th anniversary with a Healthy Lifestyle Show, taking place on Saturday 7 November from 10am to 4pm at Beau Sejour.

This free event will bring together local organisations, experts and activities to help islanders make simple, positive changes that can support their overall health and help reduce the risk of bowel cancer.

The Healthy Lifestyle Show will feature a range of healthy lifestyle stalls, live cooking demonstrations, informative talks, children’s activities and sport sessions for all ages and abilities.

Meeting the aims of the charity set 25 years ago, it will raise awareness of bowel cancer, how to prevent it and diagnose it. With zones sponsored by Butterfield and HSBC, the event aims to make healthy living feel accessible and enjoyable for the whole community.

Anne Brouard, Chair of Bowel Cancer Guernsey, said: “Reaching our 25th anniversary is a very special moment for Bowel Cancer Guernsey, and we wanted to celebrate in a way that gives something positive back to the island.

“We want this event to be friendly, fun and useful for everyone and at the same time help to not ‘sit on it but sort it!

“Eating more fibre, increasing exercise, cutting down on alcohol, stopping smoking and returning your FIT kit can all play a part in prevention and early detection.

“Whether you are already active and health-conscious, or you are just looking for somewhere to start, we would love to see you there.”

Claire Heaume, Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Butterfield Channel Islands, and sponsor of the children’s activity zone. said: “Bowel Cancer Guernsey has made a real difference over the past 25 years, and the Healthy Lifestyle Show is a wonderful way to celebrate that legacy whilst looking to the future.

This is a fantastic community initiative that encourages islanders to adopt healthier habits towards better health, and we hope it inspires people of all ages to make more positive lifestyle choices.”

Warwick Long, CEO of HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, sponsors of the wellness and fitness zone said: “We are proud to support Bowel Cancer Guernsey and the launch of the Healthy Lifestyle Show, which is all about helping people take small, manageable steps towards better health. It’s a great example of the island coming together to make healthy living feel practical, inclusive and enjoyable, which is a key focus for HSBC, supporting the health and wellbeing of our own people, so they can thrive both at work and at home.”
