Guernsey marathon
Avid runners will be taking to Guernsey’s coastal roads on Sunday 6 April as the Sure Guernsey Marathon returns for another year.
Hundreds of participants will gather at the start line at the bottom of Le Val De Terres, ready to race in one of three events; the full marathon, the Mourant Relay Race or the Marathon Mile.
The full marathon covers 26.2 miles, while the relay distances range between four to 13 miles, depending on the size of your team. The Marathon Mile, a one-mile run, is ideal for those who would like to test their ability to run a shorter distance or take part with younger athletes to give them a taste of marathon day.

As headline sponsor, Sure is enhancing the race experience with advanced timing technology. Race Result timing decoders will use mats on the course to detect chips in runners’ bibs. Checkpoint mats at the start, halfway mark, South Esplanade and the finish line will upload real-time race data to an online portal, allowing supporters to track runners’ progress instantly, and giving participants access to their split times.
4G SIM cards inside the devices will be used to improve the race time accuracy using Sure’s lightning-fast mobile network.
Sure’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Fawkner-Corbett, said: “This is a special event in the island’s sporting calendar and one that seems to get more and more popular every year. By providing race time technology for, we are helping enhance the race experience and create lasting memories for all who take part in any of the three events.
“Through our sponsorship, we are also proud to support two incredible local charities that make a huge difference to islanders and families every day in the Bailiwick, the Premature Baby Foundation and Bowel Cancer Guernsey.
“This is a day that brings the running community together alongside those who are challenging themselves by taking part in a flagship event, we’re proud to be involved.”
