Georgia Mae Bishop’s Witches, Britches & B*tches: A mezzo life for me
This November ArtHouse Jersey invites audiences to step back into a spellbinding world of music, magic, and unapologetic femininity as internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Georgia Mae Bishop presents Witches, Britches & B*tches: A mezzo life for me at ArtHouse Jersey’s headquarters, Greve de Lecq Barracks.
The intimate performances accompanied by acclaimed London-based pianist Collin Shay, take place on Sunday 2 November at 5pm and Monday 3 November at 7pm.
Tickets include a glass of mulled wine or apple presse on arrival.
Following last year’s sell-out success, Bishop returns with an evening that playfully dismantles stereotypes and celebrates the many faces of womanhood, from the witchy and wicked to the bold and brilliant. With a programme that leaps seamlessly from Mozart and Verdi to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, this intimate piano-side soirée promises to surprise, delight, and empower in equal measure.
Audiences will be treated to a fusion of styles across three distinct acts:
- Witches – Haunting and magical moments with ‘I Put a Spell on You’ and ‘The Wizard and I’, crowned by Queen’s ‘It’s a Kind of Magic’.
- Britches – Gender-bending delights, from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro to Shania Twain’s ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’.
- B*tches – Fiery arias and pop powerhouses including Carmen’s ‘Habanera’ and a mashup of Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’.
Robyn Cabaret, Producer at ArtHouse Jersey, said: “Georgia has a rare ability to bridge worlds, from grand opera to pop culture, with wit, intelligence and vocal
brilliance. Witches, Britches & B*tches isn’t just a performance; it’s a celebration of womanhood in all its complexity. We’re thrilled to welcome her back to ArtHouse Jersey for what promises to be another unforgettable evening.”
