Future Leaders Summit

The Institute of Directors will be hosting its annual Future Leaders Summit on Thursday 23 November from 3-6pm, sponsored by the Ana Leaf Foundation.

The Future Leaders Summit, held at Mourant’s Rotunda, will give local Sixth Form and College students the opportunity to hear from and meet young professionals in Guernsey. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the variety of industries and local career opportunities available to them.

Sam Jones

This year, students will hear from keynote speaker, Sam Jones, an entrepreneur, founder of Gener8 and contestant on Dragons Den, and a panel of young experts who will discuss how to find work with purpose.

Sam Jones founded Gener8 in 2018. Thousands of companies collect and sell data through online tracking.  Gener8 puts the control back in the hands of the user by allowing people to either stop their online data from being collected and sold on or to earn money from it. Having successfully taken his ideas to Dragon’s Den and, more recently, the UK Prime Minister, Sam will be an inspiring businessman for the students to hear from.

Students will also have the opportunity to engage with local entrepreneur, Elliott Cockett from The Drone Ranger, and a panel of young local professionals. This panel, representing the digital, creative and finance sectors, will share insights from their personal career journeys.

Hayley de Putron, a Trustee for the Ana Leaf Foundation, said: “We are proud to sponsor this event once again this year, allowing students to discover the range of opportunities Guernsey has to offer. We have a variety of great speakers and we hope they will inspire the students as they enter a crucial time in life in choosing the best pathway for their futures.”

Glen Tonks, Chair of the IoD Guernsey Branch, said: “The IoD is delighted to hold the third Future Leaders Summit. We strive to showcase the wealth of diverse roles available on the island and we’re thrilled to have a great line-up of speakers who aim to inspire the next generation of young business leaders.

“We must thank our sponsors Ana Leaf for their headline sponsorship, Aspida as keynote speaker sponsor, Agilisys for their digital support and Deloitte for the panel discussion. We’re also grateful for the support of our event sponsors: Butterfield, Skipton, HFL, TISE, BDO, Specsavers and Mourant.

“As part of the event students will have the opportunity to speak directly to this broad range of companies about local career opportunities.”
