Financial skills for charity managing officials

Vicky Le Poidevin, the Course presenter and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, brings over 20 years of finance sector expertise to her clients. She is the owner of training and consultancy business GSD Solutions.

This course will provide practical guidance on the responsibilities and actions that should be taken by managing officials of charities as they review financial statements and consider the overall financial health for the charity.

The session will include:

  • Overview of the layout and content of charity financial statements, including an introduction to GAAP and FRS102
  • Key areas to read, review, focus on and understand in charity financial statements, prior to them being approved
  • Financial sustainability and forecasts for the future and the impact on going concern
  • Understanding your responsibilities for the accuracy, completeness and presentation of charity financial statements
  • How to leverage your financial statements to demonstrate your impact as a charity
  • Consideration of the benefits and draw backs of published financial statements
