Since the States of Jersey approved the acquisition of the land and property of the former Seaside Café at Grève De Lecq and agreed to gift the site to the National Trust for Jersey, the car park has been opened and the site has been cleaned, tidied, and painted in time for the summer season.

This week sees the start of activity at for the former café with an evening of music with Les Conteurs Singers with guests Dominic Pallot (guitar) and Hilton Packies (tenor) on Wednesday evening, the launch of the 30 Bays in 30 Days sea swimming challenge on Sunday morning and a free exhibition of memorabilia and art taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4p.m.

The exhibition features the history of the bay and includes articles and illustrations on all manner of topics including tourism, fishing, historic buildings, heritage, wildlife, the Grève de Lecq Boat Owners’ Association, and life during the Occupation. It is a lifetime of memories produced by local resident John Syvret and there will be an opportunity to purchase some of the artworks on display. Anyone with a love of the area will really enjoy this walk down memory lane.

Seaweed & Sand Jersey Ice Cream and The Ugly Oyster food truck will also be in residence from this weekend and will be situated at the site for the summer season.
