Carers’ wellness day

Carers in Guernsey are being recognised and supported in Carers Week (10th – 16th June 2025) with a dedicated Carers’ Wellness Day, made possible thanks to a generous £2,000 donation from Investec.

Taking place on Friday, 13th June from 10:00am at the Grow Charity Hub, the Carers’ Wellness Day is a free, fully-funded event offering a peaceful day of pampering, relaxation, and community connection for local unpaid carers.

With Investec’s support, carers will be treated to professional beauty treatments, guided meditation and a sound bath session, a buffet lunch, and homemade cakes, teas and coffees.

This year’s Carers Week theme, “Caring About Equality”, shines a spotlight on the real inequalities carers face: higher risk of poverty, poorer mental and physical health, social isolation, and lost opportunities in work, education, and personal life. These challenges are just as present in Guernsey as they are elsewhere, making this moment of recognition and respite all the more important.

We hope this Wellness Day offers a small moment of restoration, and reminds carers that they are seen, valued and supported.”.—

The event also marks the launch of the new Carers Guide – an important local resource offering practical advice and emotional guidance as well as a wellbeing checklist.

The guide is available in hard copy and can also be downloaded from the Carers Guernsey website: www.carers.gg.

With 3 in 5 people likely to take on a caring role during their lifetime, the guide is designed to be a clear and accessible companion that supports carers through the complex and often isolating realities of caregiving.
