Bungee in the park [cancelled]
Time is running out to sign up for the adrenaline-pumping fundraiser, Bungee in the Park raising funds for Jersey Cheshire Home and Dementia Jersey.
The two local charities urgently need more participants to ensure the event can go ahead. If enough people don’t sign-up this week, this exciting opportunity may have to be cancelled.
With jumps scheduled for Saturday 7th September and Sunday 8th September at People’s Park, St Helier, there’s no time to waste.
The cost to participate is £100 with a minimum fundraising commitment of £200 per person.
Two courageous residents of Jersey Cheshire Home have already committed to this daring challenge. Stanley Baudains, a 75-year-old who has never done anything like this before, is determined to conquer his fear of heights. “This is my way of giving back to a place that has given me so much,” says Stanley. His goal is to raise £1,000, but he can’t do it alone, he needs the help of generous islanders to ensure this event is a success.
Irene Hamon, another resident known for her past achievements like swimming around the island, is also set to take the plunge, aiming to raise £1,000 for these worthy causes.
The funds raised will be evenly split between Jersey Cheshire Home, the island’s only residential facility providing care for adults with disabilities and Dementia Jersey, the leading charity supporting people with dementia and their carers.
Donna Abel, CEO of Jersey Cheshire Home emphasises the importance of the event: “We’ve brought this epic challenge to Jersey not just for the thrill but because we rely on fundraising events like this to ensure we can continue to support disabled islanders and enhance their lives. It would be a terrible shame if we had to cancel this event due to not getting the support we need to cover its costs.”
