Bubbletecture: Pop into a world of wonder!

ArtHouse Jersey is bringing a spectacular new public art installation to the heart of St Helier.

Entitled ‘Bubbletecture’, this immersive artwork will transform the footprint of IFC2 on the Esplanade into a glowing, playful wonderland for all to enjoy from Thursday 28 August to Sunday 14 September 2025. The project is delivered in partnership with the Jersey Development Company and sponsored by Butterfield.

The centrepiece of this free, family-friendly experience is a dazzling arrangement of 8-metre-high iridescent spheres, or ‘bubbles’ – designed by award-winning Sydney-based artists Atelier Sisu. Titled Evanescent, the artwork responds to sunlight throughout the day, scattering rainbow reflections across the ground and inviting visitors to lose themselves in its shimmering beauty. Paired with a bespoke soundtrack and magical lighting effects that run from 9:30am to 9:30pm, Bubbletecture is designed to captivate people of all ages and backgrounds.

The installation will sit within a specially designed outdoor environment on the yet to be developed IFC2 site, creating a temporary green space in the middle of St Helier, just two minutes walk from Liberation Station. As well as admiring the installation, visitors will be able to take part in a diverse line-up of free cultural and wellbeing events each weekend.

Bubbletecture has a bespoke
soundtrack and magical lighting effects that run from 9:30am to 9:30pm.

These include:

  • Live performances from Jersey’s national ballet company, Ballet d’Jerri, with brand new choreography by internationally acclaimed Jamaal Burkmar
  • Yoga sessions for all levels with The Island Yoga Project
  • Music performances from Jersey-born opera singer Georgia Mae Bishop, Jersey Ukulele Club and more
  • Children’s entertainment, including giant bubble play hosted by Kydd de la Mare and craft activities from The Stoodio
  • DJ sets from local artists including Ben Newman, and the return of JDC’s much-loved Hola Friday! sessions

The installation will be open around the clock, free to the public and entirely unticketed, with security and support staff on site throughout the exhibition period.

Every detail, from on-site wayfinding to accessibility measures, has been designed to make the experience welcoming and easy to enjoy.

Whether you’re looking for a fun family outing, a tranquil space to reflect, or the perfect photo opportunity, Bubbletecture offers something for everyone. Visitors are encouraged to share their experience using #BubbletectureJersey

Director of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle, said: “Bubbletecture is about wonder, joy and togetherness. It’s a piece that anyone and everyone can enjoy – no explanations needed. We’ve chosen it precisely for its accessible nature, its sense of fun, and its power to brighten our shared spaces. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Butterfield and the delivery support of Jersey Development Company, we’re able to offer this experience to the entire Island, free of charge.”

Butterfield’s Branch Manager in Jersey, Michelle Le Blond, said: “Bubbletecture brings something truly magical to St Helier. At Butterfield, we believe in enriching the lives of the communities we serve, and the Butterfield Public Art Series is a perfect way for us to do just that. We’re proud to be supporting such a joyful and inclusive public artwork that encourages exploration, creativity and connection. We are especially pleased the installation is located next to our offices at IFC6.”

Lee Henry, CEO of Jersey Development Company, added: “We’re pleased to be partnering with ArtHouse Jersey to temporarily transform the IFC2 site into a dynamic public space. Bubbletecture offers more than just an architectural installation – it brings a creative energy to the heart of town and invites islanders to re-engage with a familiar area in a fresh and imaginative way. This project – albeit temporary – reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful placemaking and the integration of culture within Jersey’s evolving urban landscape.”
