Breakfast Briefing: Should Jersey have a university?
Does Jersey need a University?
The question deserves to be asked and for good reason: a university contributes directly to the creation of a high-level, skills based economy. It’s a tried and tested model that yields results at multiple levels – from research and innovation to academic tourism and hospitality.
But perhaps most importantly, a university or knowledge industry facilitates a pipeline for new and fresh talent to the island, as well as a conduit for islanders who have left the island to study, train and live, or to return, all to the benefit of Jersey.
With the Minister for Education, Deputy Rob Ward, Director of Jersey International Centre of Advanced Studies Dr Sean Dettman and CEO of Digital Jersey Tony Moretta all speaking and a Q&A panel to discuss the thoughts from the floor, it promises to be a thought-provoking breakfast event looking at the future of further education in Jersey.
