Ballet d’Jèrri: Footsteps/Sand and their castles
This October, Ballet d’Jèrri will step onto the main stage of the newly restored Jersey Opera House for the very first time, and you’re invited to celebrate with them.
The island’s national dance company is bringing back two audience favourites for this special occasion: ‘Footsteps’ by Garrett Smith and “Sand and Their Castles” by Tess Voelker.
‘Footsteps’ is a moving exploration of the fleeting connections that shape our lives; brief encounters that can leave a lasting mark. Meanwhile, ‘Sand and Their Castles’ takes audiences on a playful and tender journey through the messy, magical shift from childhood into adulthood. Both works show off the unique voices of two choreographers who are making waves on the international stage.
But this season isn’t just about world-class dance, it’s about home. The Opera House is now Ballet d’Jèrri’s stage, a true home for Jersey’s dance community, and these performances mark the start of an exciting new chapter for the island’s cultural life.
And the best bit? Everyone’s invited. All tickets are offered on a ‘Pay What You Can’ basis, with prices starting from just £5. Whether you can give a little or a little more, every contribution helps keep world-class contemporary dance accessible to everyone in Jersey.
With three performances:
- Friday 24th October at 19.30
- Saturday 25th October at 14.30
- Saturday 25th October at 19.30
this is a chance to be part of a landmark moment for Ballet d’Jèrri and for Jersey Opera House.
