
Awareness Day
This event aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s Disease, provide information and support to people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones, reassure those affected by Parkinson’s that they can lead fulfilling lives with the right support and resources available locally and highlight the valuable work of our charity Parkinson’s Guernsey whose motto is: ‘Parkinson’s Guernsey, Moving forward together’.
Key Themes Include:
- Support Services: Showcasing the extensive support network available on the island and engaging with healthcare professionals such as our Neurological Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Guernsey Therapy Group, the community Dietician, the Occupationnal Therapist, the Specialist Disability Social Worker, the Social worker for Carers, Health Connections, The Sports commission and its inclusion scheme with Walking Sports, the Guernsey Voluntary Service (who run Meals on Wheels and the Jubilee and Russels Social Clubs), U3A, Connies Carers, Carers Guernsey, Babbé LLP and Guardian Medical supply.
- Importance of Movement: Emphasising the role of physical activity in managing Parkinson’s symptoms and improving overall well-being.
- Interactive Demonstrations and Activities: Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive demonstrations and try out various activities aimed at promoting physical activity and social engagement such as: Walking with poles, Pickleball, Smoveys, Walking Football, Padel Tennis, Boxing and Walking Sports.
This is an event open to the whole Community with an interest in Parkinson’s Disease.
