An Introduction to Norman Customary Law on Property and Guardianship

Sophie well-known to many Guernsey Advocates as she has taught the Noram institutions and customary law elements of the Certificat d’Etudes Juridiques Françaises et Normandes (the CEJFN) for a number of years. Outside her role on the CEJFN, Sophie specializes in Norman institutions and customary law still in force in Jersey and Guernsey.
Sophie is also involved in the Diploma of Norman Studies on the legal status of women in Normandy and foreign applications of Norman customary law and is co-director of the Maritime Pole of the House of Research in Human Sciences of the University of Caen Normandy. Sophie has also written many publications on Norman customary law and Norman institutions.
The lecture is aimed at a non-legal audience who are interested in Norman customary law, its history and continued relevance in the Bailiwick.
