A Lunch with the Lieutenant-Governor
As his term as Lieutenant-Governor draws to a close, His Excellency joins us for a festive lunch reflecting on his time serving the Bailiwick and looking ahead to what comes next for our islands.
Few people see Guernsey, Alderney and Sark from quite the vantage point he has occupied these past years: close enough to understand our institutions, our businesses and our communities, yet independent enough to offer a candid outside view.
We’ll explore:
- What he has learned about Guernsey, Alderney and Sark from a uniquely independent vantage point, and what the role of Lieutenant Governor has taught him about how our islands work
- Where the Bailiwick’s greatest strengths and opportunities lie and where we may need to be braver about change and risk
- How relationships across the Channel Islands and the wider region – including with Jersey – might evolve to support long-term prosperity
- Our constitutional relationship with the Crown, and what it means for Guernsey’s identity and autonomy
- Reflections on the people, projects and places that have defined his time in office
- This promises to be a thoughtful send-off from a Lieutenant-Governor who has come to know our islands well.
