Open Gardens

Over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th June 2025, several properties on the Island of Sark will be participating in the National Garden Scheme; La Seigneurie, La Tour and Le Grand Dixcart will be opening their gardens to the public.

Le Grand Dixcart gardens surround an old farmhouse and date from 1565. They are formed into 5 distinct areas over 2 acres and are cultivated for beauty, wildlife and food.

There is large mandala-style permaculture area providing many different vegetables and cutting flowers alongside habitats for wildlife, ponds, lawns, herbaceous borders, two glass houses, woodland, sculptures and an orchard.

All are welcome between 11am and 3pm both days. It is £5 admission (£2.50 for children) and all proceeds go to the NGS charity which provides critical support for nursing and health charities. Delicious homemade cakes will be for sale along with teas and coffee. Entrants are also welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds. The garden is located next to Stocks Hotel and will be signposted for the event. The garden at La Tour to the north of Sark will be open that weekend too from 9am till 4pm on both days.

La Tour is surrounded by hedges of roses, mainly pink and white. In front of the house there is a formal rose garden with David Austin roses. An organic vegetable garden has been created behind the greenhouse. At the back of the house, there is a pond with water lilies surrounded by David Austin roses of all colours.

La Seigneurie gardens will also be open on Saturday 7th June from 10am till 5pm and is delighted to open for a third year to raise money for the National Gardens Scheme, a most worthwhile charity. Come and enjoy the tranquility and variety within the gardens. Enjoy a snack at Hathaway’s L’Express or lunch at Hathaway’s Restaurant.
