30 Bays in 30 Days

Les Bourgs Hospice are challenging islanders to take part in one of their most important fundraisers which runs throughout July.

30 Bays in 30 Days gives islanders the chance to make the most of their Summer by getting into the sea more and ticking off bays they would not normally go to, while helping to raise essential funds for a local charity.

This year’s event again offers three flexible options:

• 30 Bays in 30 Days – the classic challenge
• 15 Bays in 30 Days – ideal for busy schedules or new swimmers
• 9 Bays in 30 Days – a familyfriendly route with easyaccess beaches

Participants simply complete 30 strokes at each chosen bay between 1–30 July, in any order and at any pace. Swimmers are encouraged to pledge £30 in donations or sponsorship to support the Hospice’s free, specialist palliative care.

The event begins with a community swim at Vazon at 6.30pm on 1 July, where islanders can also register in person.

Event founder Liz Stonebridge said: “This challenge was created in memory of loved ones cared for at Les Bourgs, and it continues to bring people together in a really special way. Even if people have completed the challenge before every swim is different depending on tides, time of day or who they are swimming with. Every sign up helps to provide free hospice care which makes such a difference to island families.”

costs £15 for adults, £5 for children, £35 for families, and £10 for the 15 Bays option. A team entry for five people is also available, encouraging workplaces to take part as part of staff wellbeing initiatives.
