20mph consultation drop-in session

The Infrastructure Minister will host two drop-in sessions for Douglas and Onchan residents wishing to discuss proposed changes to speed limits in residential areas.

They are being arranged to support the ongoing consultation period and will take place at the Sea Terminal in Douglas on:

• Friday 20 June, 1pm-4pm
• Wednesday 25 June, 3.30pm-6pm

Dr Michelle Haywood MHK will welcome people wishing to engage on the issue near the main entrance to the Sea Terminal, where maps which illustrate the extent of the proposals before and after implementation are currently on display.

The same maps can also be viewed at the following venues until Friday 4 July:

• Onchan Commissioners office
• Onchan Library
• Douglas City Hall
• Henry Bloom Noble Library

The proposals are designed to provide a safer environment for residential areas and represent changes due to be implemented across the Island over the next 18 months. The implementation has received the support of Tynwald and reaffirms motions from 2020 and 2023 that the Island’s residential areas and school zones should be 20mph by default.

Dr Haywood said: “I look forward to engaging with people on this important issue and ensuring we find the right solutions for each community. Gathering local knowledge and experience is a vital part of this process, and will continue to be a key feature of further consultations taking place later in the year as this project rolls out across the Island.
