2025 Open Day: Showcasing General Aviation in Jersey

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the building opposite the bowling alley on the way to the airport?

Well the Jersey Aero Club is now pleased to announce that it will host an Open Day event on Sunday 11th May 2025 from 10a.m. to 4p.m., temporarily opening its doors to the local community to help demystify its activities.

Since 1951, the Jersey Aero Club has built up a rich aviation history in Jersey and is now the main entry point for light private aircraft coming to the island. Jersey Aero Club is a private members club that caters to the local community of aviators and the view from its ‘Aviator’ bar provides the premier location for plane spotting in comfort irrespective of the weather. The Club hosts a Business Centre where office space can be rented for meetings and events, and it also provides office space for third-party aviation themed businesses, and these currently include a flight training school, a private jet charter business, and an aviation engineering business.

Nigel Hall, Chairman of Jersey Aeroclub said: “We are excited to announce that Jersey Aero Club will be hosting an Open Day on Sunday 11th May to create awareness about the Club, its’ facilities, and of the General Aviation (GA) focused independent businesses who operate from its premises. On the day we will  showcase what our amazing facilities have to offer. We are also pleased to confirm that the Club has partnered with its tenants and some local schools to run aviation-themed art and design competitions. The inspirating creative output from the students will be proudly displayed at the Club leading up to, during, and post the event. We hope that this collaboration will open possibilities for some ‘next gen’ local aviators. We invite the public to come and join us in the clubhouse for our Open Day which will be filled with fun, interest and information.”

To accompany Jersey Aero Club, its aviation tenants will also be participating in the Open Day:

  • Channel Islands Aero Services Limited (CIASL). CIASL is a Jersey based aviation engineering business who for the JAC Open Day will host an ‘Open Door’ inter-active event – a must see for anyone interested in mechanics and engineering.
  • Helping Wings. Helping Wings is Jersey’s flying charity who aims to share the excitement of flying in a light aircraft with local Jersey residents who would otherwise not get the chance to participate in the experience.
  • Ortac. Ortac is a Jersey based private jet chartering business, and they will be sharing some of the more unusual aviation career development journeys of their staff, such as the ‘local born and educated pizza delivery boy to jet pilot’ story.
  • Skywalker Flight Training. Skywalker Flight Training a local flight training business who launched in Summer of 2024 will be providing information about flight training and flight experiences. Meet pilots and instructors who will give you a flavour of what its like to experience flying and obtaining a license.
  • The Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA). The Jersey branch of RAFA provides support for veterans and promotes interest within young people for flying as a pathway to an RAF career. Members from the branch will be on hand to provide information about their charity and their forthcoming October 2025 centenary event.
