2022 Jersey Concours d’Elegance
Car enthusiasts – indeed, anyone who admires elegance and beauty in design – will be rewarded with a display of some of the world’s finest automobiles at a new event to coincide with the Jersey International Festival of Motoring, over the forthcoming Queen’s Jubilee weekend in June.
Le Riche Automobile Restorers, Jersey’s vintage and classic car specialists, has planned this event in tandem with Islands Private Clients and the promotors of the Motoring Festival.
2022 is coming alive with new concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and road shows, as confidence returns and Covid restrictions have largely been withdrawn. Joe Castellino of Le Riche Automobile is confident this new venue will be a most welcome attraction.
Joe explains that the French term “Concours d’Elegance” is apt for what is a parade and display of some of the finest motor cars of the last century. Participants in a Concours prepare their cherished cars to the highest standards then, often wearing period costume, will put them forward to be judged, based on condition, authenticity and style. Jersey’s public will be welcome to attend the event without charge, view the cars and watch the parade. Concours events are synonymous with elegance and style and leading venues include Pebble Beach in California and Villa D’Este on Lake Como, both of which Le Riche Automobile have attended and where they won podium finishes for their workmanship on the restored cars.
The event’s local principal sponsor is Islands Private Clients, part of the Islands Insurance Group. Islands’ Director Jim Purkiss commented that he is delighted to be working with Joe and his team at Le Riche Automobile to sponsor this new event. Islands Insurance is the largest provider of classic car and motorcycle insurance offshore and whilst supporting new Jersey community events is very much aligned with their company vision, it is also as important that these events add colour and texture to our Island’s community. By working together Jim and Joe both aspire to create a little of the atmosphere of the famous ‘Goodwood Motoring Festival’ events here on the Island.
With travel still tricky, many of us will enjoy another staycation this year. June’s extended bank holiday is one we are all looking forward to, not only in celebrating the reign of our remarkable Queen, but also enjoying the many events and parades taking place. The event is open to the public, and the promoters have organised an exclusive corporate event. So, if you are at a loose end this Jubilee weekend and fancy something different, dress up, make an effort and attend this great display and why not even pack a picnic hamper and ground blanket Goodwood-style and head to People’s Park, chill out and watch the new show.
