12 Bays of Christmas
Our fun and festive swimming challenge is back!
Jersey Hospice Care and National Trust for Jersey have launched their festive swimming challenge, 12 Bays of Christmas.
They’re encouraging Islanders to embrace the winter weather and visit 12 different bays throughout December whilst raising money for two local charities.
Marina Brockbank, Community Engagement Officer, Jersey Hospice Care said: “We’re excited to bring 12 Bays of Christmas back for another year and to partner with The National Trust on this fun event. We know many islanders swim all year round and feel the positive effects from the health and wellbeing benefits that cold water swimming brings.
“This is a chance to feel better, have some festive fun and help raise the vital funds that we need to keep our services running.”
To complete the challenge, participants must take bracing dip in each of the festively named bays:
- Bonne silent Nuit
- Bauble-y- Bay
- St Cathereindeers bay
- Yule lo(n)g Beach
- La Rocque-ing around the Christmas Tree
- Ever-Green Island
- St Ho-Ho-Ho-bins Bay
- Port-let it Snow
- Jingle all the Ouaisne
- St Brr-lade’s Bay
- Le Sleigh
- L’Elf-tacq
Donna Le Marrec, Marketing and Events Manager, National Trust for Jersey added: “We’ve changed some of the bays for this year’s challenge to encourage participants to explore some of the coastline that they may not be so familiar with. It’s all about having fun, getting out in the fresh air, challenging yourself and enjoying Jersey’s beautiful beaches – even in winter!”
12 Bays of Christmas wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of sponsor, CSC. Nicola Giraud, Managing Director, CSC Jersey said: “The 12 Bays of Christmas challenge resonates with our commitment to ensuring our local communities thrive and with supporting the causes that matter most to our people. Both Jersey Hospice Care and the National Trust for Jersey are deeply rooted in our community and we take pride in supporting them as well as having some festive fun along the way.”
