The British Heart Foundation is celebrating sixty years of pioneering research and life saving.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) funds over £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases, Stroke, Vascular dementia and Diabetes.
In the 1960s, more than 7 out of 10 heart attacks in the UK were fatal. Now, 7 out of 10 people survive and get to see their families again. Despite progress, 7.6 million people in the UK are diagnosed with heart and circulatory diseases with a sad 450 deaths every day in the UK, causing a quarter of all UK deaths.
From clot busting drugs, transplants, miniscule devices to correct heartbeats. Over the past six decades, the BHF has supported important breakthroughs in the journey to beat heartbreak forever.
“British Heart Foundation is very close to many Islanders hearts. Sadly, many will experience a family member, friend or loved one diagnosed with a heart or circulatory disease. People’s donations have got BHF this far, every breakthrough made is funded by generous donations. Let’s continue to beat heartbreak together!” explained Ryan Williams, Chairman of British Heart Foundation – Jersey Branch.
