Guernsey’s Job Centre is inviting employers, job seekers and anyone interested in new job opportunities to attend a Job Fair at the Guernsey Information Centre on Wednesday 26th May.
The event will be taking place from 9.00-11.30am. Employers who would like to attend and haven’t already booked a space will need to email [email protected]. There is no need for members of the public to register in advance if they would like to attend.
The Job Fair is being organised in response to an increasing number of jobs being advertised through the Job Centre. The number of job adverts promoted by the Job Centre in April was 472, which is the highest number of jobs ever advertised by the Job Centre in one month.
The total number of people unemployed in Guernsey fell to 569 at the end of April 2021, a reduction of 173 from the end of March 2021.
The number of new claims for employment and income related benefits decreased further, with only 20 new claims made. This is compared with 614 in February and 79 in March.
Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said: “If you’re an employer with vacancies to fill, this could be the perfect opportunity to meet a number of candidates who are keen to start work, or who are looking for a new job.
“If you are looking for work, or considering a new job, why not come along and see what is on offer? This is good for employers, good for those looking for work and will hopefully be good for our island economy.”
