Wendy Trehiou is celebrating her ten year cancer free anniversary and the Jersey Bluetits Chill Swimmers are supporting her all the way this Sunday, 23rd May 2021 at 9.00am with a ‘Turn the sea pink for Wendy’ event at Bouley Bay whilst raising funds for MacMillan Jersey.
Wendy is the Jersey endurance swimmer who has swum across the English Channel an amazing six times (twice both ways) as well as swimming around Jersey and many other endurance events.
The Jersey Bluetits are asking everyone to turn up in pink to show their support and wear a pink bra. A minimum £5 donation is asked and there will be prizes for the best outfits. Men can also wear a bra or decorate their ‘bad buoys’ and say ‘balls to cancer’.
Jersey Bluetits are busy baking cakes and biscuits for the event which will be available for a donation on the day. so even if people don’t fancy a swim they can still support the event by turning up wearing pink to eat cake and have some fun.
The Jersey Bluetits is a non-profit group of friendly and welcoming sea swimmers of mixed abilities who get together for safe swims and fun social events. The benefits of cold water swimming are known to have a positive impact on people’s mental health, which has proved to be especially important during lockdown. Find out more here.
