Jersey Law firm Corbett Le Quesne are providing their support throughout dementia awareness week by supporting local charity, Dementia Jersey.
Simon Lofthouse, Head of the Private Client team at Corbett Le Quesne, has offered his time free of charge to provide two seminars with Q&A to discuss lasting powers of attorney (LPAs) at the Santander Work Café on Wednesday 19th May at 12 and 1pm.
For those who don’t know, LPAs are an important tool to have in place should you become incapacitated and be unable make certain decisions, including financial matters. This is especially relevant for individuals living with dementia. Whilst the charity Dementia Jersey has advisor support available, who can provide local information in respect of LPAs with the Greffe, Simon is offering added support to give islanders an opportunity to pop by to learn more about LPAs and to address any questions they may have.
Simon is a private client lawyer with a number of years’ experience dealing with all aspects of incapacity including LPAs and delegations/deputyships. Previously from the UK, Simon used to work with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Support in Wiltshire and is proud to be trained as a Dementia Friends Champion. He has acted for a number of prominent UK and international charities assisting with complex matters of legacy giving, probate and incapacity law. Simon now also helps out as a member of the capacity and succession sub-committee of the Law Society.
Simon commented “We are delighted to support Dementia Jersey with their vital work and to raise awareness of dementia and the legal effects this cruel illness can have on individuals and their families.”
