ArtHouse Jersey’s latest featured artist in their Pop Up series is Glen Fox. The arts charity are inviting you to ‘pop up’ to Greve de Lecq Barracks, on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September.
Glen Fox will be at the studios throughout the weekend to answer any questions visitors may have about his art to gain a better insight into the way he works and what inspires him to create. All the work on display will be available to purchase.
A celebration of art and skateboarding
On Saturday 18th September, between 2pm and 6pm, in addition to the art exhibition there will be accompanying music courtesy of DJ, Dom Hirani as well as a small skateboard ramp erected on the grounds nearby.
A keen and talented skateboarder, Glen Fox is well known on the local skate scene. Of skateboarding and art combined he said: “Sometimes it’s purely a case of skating around and feeling so inspired that I need to express myself in that moment. It’s always been purely straight from my thoughts and surroundings. To me, art is always more pure when it reflects you as a person, your characteristics and your experiences in that one moment.”
About Glen Fox
Fascinated with art from a very young age, Glen began experimenting when he was eight years old. His style has changed and grown over the years, as he transitioned between different materials and colours, sketchbooks, canvases and murals.
At 16, Glen settled on ‘freestyle’, or as he puts it ‘straight from the brain to whatever I had within my reach’, a strategy that has served him well. He puts his artistic development down to his love of travel and embraces the challenge and pressure he places upon himself to produce art to exhibit.
Glen Fox is no stranger to ArtHouse Jersey, having contributed to a number of projects that have helped benefit the Island’s community, from the Skipton Schools Murals Project to Skipton Forget Me Knots workshops. As a freestyle artist, his preferred medium is large scale ink drawings, the style that largely makes up what you can see at this exhibition.
‘ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up: The Glen Fox edition’ takes place at ArtHouse Jersey HQ, Greve de Lecq Barracks, St Mary on both Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September 2021, between 10am and 7pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
