Following a successful Job Fair last month, Guernsey’s Job Centre is again inviting employers, job seekers and anyone interested in new job opportunities to attend a Job Fair at St James on Thursday 8th July.
The event will be taking place from 9.30 to 11:30am. Employers who would like to attend and haven’t already booked a space will need to email [email protected]. There is no need for members of the public to register in advance if they would like to attend.
This event is being organised in response to the Job Centre continuing to advertise a high number of job vacancies. The number of jobs advertised through the Job Centre in May 2021 was 430. Many of these jobs were in the hospitality sector.
The total number of people unemployed in Guernsey fell to 494 at the end of May, a reduction of 75 from the end of April 2021.
The number of new claims for employment and income related benefits increased slightly, with 28 new claims made, compared with 20 in April.
Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said: “It’s hugely encouraging to see unemployment continuing to fall, but we’re not taking our foot off the pedal, with many vacancies still to be filled. The Job Fair we held last month received great feedback from employers and jobseekers alike, and so, on the back of that success, we’ve moved to a bigger venue to meet the demand.
“If you’re looking for work, or considering a new job, why not come along and see what’s on offer”.
