Walkers taking part in Guernsey’s 2020-2021 Saffery Rotary Walk on 5th June are being encouraged to snap a selfie showcasing Guernsey in all its glory to be in with a chance of winning an Apple Watch Series 5.
The #SafferySelfie photography competition is organised by the Walk’s headline sponsor Saffery Champness and is open to all walkers taking part in the event. This year’s competition theme is #GloriousGuernsey.
Lisa Vizia, director Saffery Champness and member of the Walk’s organising committee, said: “We live on such a beautiful island and with many people taking the opportunity to spend more time outdoors during the lockdowns I hope it has given us all a renewed appreciation of how lucky we are to have such stunning scenery on our doorstep. With this in mind, #GloriousGuernsey seemed a very fitting theme for this year’s competition.”
The Walk spans 39 miles of Guernsey’s spectacular coastline and the competition asks Walkers to capture their favourite views along the route in their selfies.
“From the breath-taking clifftops of the south coast to the stunning west coast beaches and the rugged shoreline of the north to the twinkling water and bobbing boats in the harbour – walkers will be spoilt for choice of beautiful backdrops during the event,” said Lisa.
New to this year, there will also be #SafferySelfie frames stationed at each checkpoint throughout the Walk. These are 3D Facebook-themed cut-out frames, which can be used as a prop when taking a #SafferySelfie.
“The frames are a bit of fun and can be used to add a new dimension to the selfies. They will also give walkers a chance to catch their breath, take it all in and the photos provide a lovely memento of the day which can looked back on with pride,” added Lisa.
Walkers wishing to take part in the competition simply need to take a selfie during the Walk on 5th June, post it on the Saffery Rotary Walk Facebook page or tag @SRIslandwalk on Twitter and include the hashtags #SafferySelfie and #GloriousGuernsey in the post. Walkers have until Wednesday 9th June to submit their photos.
