A new and very different art exhibition is now open at Jersey Museum’s Link Gallery.
The exhibition, named ‘Liam Nunn: House of mirrors’ is described as ‘the pungent manifestation of year-long, weekly digital self portrait exposures.’
In our opinion, the description of the stunning and original art work does not do it justice!
Lian Nunn explained to Channel Eye: “Before I embarked on this project, I had not achieved creating a piece of art in over two years. Although I work in the creative industry as an animator/designer it seemed like a big waste!
“It is in part that I am busy, life is busy, but it’s probably mostly because I pressure myself to always to do my ‘best’ work. It’s a burden trying to please me, those who know me know that! But that critical eye can stay for marketing strategy meetings. My art must exist and run free like a nude and fabulous gazelle.
“It was time to shift focus from not-doing in case it’s not perfect – to doing because I like it and it’s fun, and who cares what the outcome is.
“This work is the starting point, one self-portrait a week for a year. 52 me’s. Exploring art, creativity, colour, shapes, rhythm, my face and behind my face.
“The second phase of the project is due to begin in September when I will be asking everyone else to create a portrait of me, and I will be releasing weekly online. I want anyone to get involved in whatever medium suits them – pencil, paint, ballpoint, crayons, digital (like mine were), photography, video, just anything.
“Whatever their ability, people who have been slacking in using their talent like I was. People who are rubbish but think it will be fun. People who are just excellent!”
The exhibition is free to enter at the Link Gallery, Jersey Museum. It is open from 10am to 5pm daily throughout August.
