Guernsey and Jersey are expected to find out today whether they’ve been placed on a tax blacklist.
The islands are among 92 jurisdictions in the spotlight of the European Union’s Tax Code of Conduct Committee.
Officials there previously said governments of all the places being scrutinised for their tax regimes and regulatory systems will be informed and allowed to respond before the blacklist is made public.
The final announcement is expected to come today, after a meeting of EU finance ministers later this morning.
Chief Ministers from Guernsey and Jersey met with European counterparts less than a fortnight ago, while last week Oxfam lobbied the EU with a list of countries it wanted to see on the blacklist which included Jersey but not Guernsey.
