Early bird registrations are now open for the 2022 Saffery Rotary Walk around Guernsey.
Individual walkers who want to take on the Saffery Rotary Walk on 11th June 2022 in support of local charities can sign up now with the event’s discounted early bird registration.
Individual walkers will benefit from a discounted price of £25, which will be available until 31 January 2022. People are also invited to take part in the Walk as a relay team (with a maximum of seven members) or as a family group of four. Relay teams can register for £140 and family groups for £40.
“We’re very excited to be launching our registration for 2022. We were absolutely blown away by the support the Walk received this year, our walkers really got into the Guernsey Together spirit and we know they’ll do us proud again in 2022,” said organising committee chair Simon Milsted.
“We’re looking forward to giving the warmest welcome back to our walkers from Jersey, the UK and further afield who, along with our wonderful local supporters, will make it another fantastic community event.”
The Saffery Rotary Walk is one of the island’s largest charity fundraising events and it has supported hundreds of local charitable causes since its inception in 1998. This year the Walk raised £78,500 for 22 local charities, supporting a wide variety of projects to the benefit of their members or the wider local community.
Lisa Vizia, director at Saffery Champness and member of the organising committee, said: “Despite having helped organise the Walk for several years now, our 2020-2021 event was the first time I got to walk it as part of our Saffery relay team. Now I’ve taken part, I can honestly say that the camaraderie and thrill of the day along with the rewarding feeling you get from doing your bit for great local causes is truly something to be experienced.
“I encourage everyone to get involved in the day in whatever way they can, whether that’s taking on the full 39 miles, doing a section as part of a relay team or walking the north coast into town with your family.”
The Saffery Rotary Walk is the only round-island walk which takes place on the island, allowing walkers to experience all the beauty of Guernsey’s breath-taking coastline. The 39-mile challenge can be tackled as an individual or as part of a relay team.
The Guernsey Family Walk starts from Chouet or Bordeaux and enables families and small groups to take part in this community fundraising event, walking the last part of the route to join the hundreds of walkers crossing the finish line.
