A dual-qualified trusts lawyer with extensive experience of working in Hong Kong has joined Walkers’ Guernsey Private Capital & Trusts team.
Marcel Treurnicht has joined the team led by Partner Rupert Morris and Group Partner Rajah Abusrewil, working alongside associates Nitrisha Doorasamy and Kathryn Macken.
Marcel, who joins the team as an associate having spent the past three years working in private practice in Hong Kong, is admitted in England & Wales and in South Africa and has particular experience in the use of Guernsey trusts and companies for UK expats and Asian families including the use and set-up of Employee Benefit Trust structures prior to an initial public offering.
Rupert said: “We are delighted to welcome Marcel to the team – his experience of advising clients in the Asian market is particularly relevant to our practice, which is closely embedded with our long-established teams in Hong Kong and Singapore.
“As our team continues to grow there are more and more opportunities to leverage the strength of the Guernsey brand in international markets, and Guernsey is already a popular structuring choice for clients in Asia.”
Walkers’ managing partner in Guernsey, Matt Sanders, said: “We have been able to maintain the momentum on our recruitment and growth throughout the disruption of the last 18 months, and I am very pleased to welcome Marcel as the latest recruit to the team.”
