The Discover Digital Summer Internship students are welcomed into their placements in Guernsey’s technology sector this week.
The six-week paid summer internship is designed specifically for Guernsey’s post-16 students who are passionate about the digital world and are seeking to work on current projects for local employers to develop their digital career pathways.
Running from 17th July until 25th August 2023, participating companies will employ the digital interns for six-weeks to work on team projects. The Digital Greenhouse has secured high quality placements with First Central, JT, Cortex, PwC, Sure and Deloitte.
The programme will finish with a presentation evening on the 23rd of August where the interns will showcase the projects that they have worked on over the previous weeks.
Ben Wratten, Programme and Engagement Manager of the Digital Greenhouse commented: “Working in partnership with local businesses to provide young people with an insight into career routes in Guernsey is hugely valuable and has had such a positive impact for those who have taken part over the past 7 years. This truly is a fantastic opportunity for students and graduates to experience cutting edge digital projects as well as showcasing both employment opportunities and the range of innovative companies we have operating here in the Island.”
Matt Thornton of Cortex Technologies commented: “We’re excited to be involved in the programme again as previous years have been really successful and in one case led to us offering them a job! We have a really interesting project lined up for our intern to collaborate with us on which we’re certain will be not only be of considerable value, but also a lot of fun!”
