Digital Jersey has partnered with Visit Jersey to help give the island’s tourism and hospitality industry a digital boost through a series of specialist skills sessions this Spring.
The ‘Digital that Delivers’ series, which started last week, is focused on helping businesses in the island’s tourism sector to enhance their online presence and integrate digital best practice into their operations.
Free for Visit Jersey industry partners and led by Rory Steel, Head of the Digital Jersey Academy and James Matthewson, digital entrepreneur and trainer, the half day sessions offer a comprehensive range of digital upskilling opportunities, focusing on:
- Enhancing visibility on Google
- Managing brand presence through social media
- Creating a Google site to support booking and payment options
- Paid advertising and search engine optimisation
- Security and compliance around GDPR
Tony Moretta, CEO, Digital Jersey, said: “We know that all businesses need to improve their digital skills, and so I’m really pleased that we are working with Visit Jersey to help our fantastic tourism sector take advantage of tech to improve its customer service, profitability and productivity.”
Claire Lyons, Interim CEO, Visit Jersey, added: “It’s really important that people enjoy a seamless experience when visiting our island, from the minute they start searching for their holiday, to booking online, to being here choosing their next activity. Keeping up with changes in technology can be a real challenge for our industry, so it’s great that we’re partnering with Digital Jersey to help tourism businesses digitally upskill and improve their online presence, so that they can create a stand-out profile and continue to attract visitors to our beautiful island.”
