Digital Jersey has formed a new global network of leading entrepreneurs and executives who have pledged to fly the flag for the island’s tech sector.
The Digital Jersey Ambassador Programme will see key figures promote work being done on-island, and identify new opportunities for the growing number of people and businesses working in digital industries locally.
A dozen people, who travel the world for their own business ends, have signed up to the programme which gives them access to the increasing number of digital hubs Digital Jersey has signed memorandums of understanding with globally, as well as a private online portal to share their news, events, projects and even collaboration requests, as well as myriad opportunities to build their own professional connections with other ambassadors.
Audrey Lescot, Policy Officer at Digital Jersey, said: “Jersey’s digital diaspora is spread far and wide, meaning there is a ready-made network of people with the potential to amplify our key messages. What was missing was a formal ‘umbrella’ for them all to group under, which is why the Digital Jersey Ambassador Programme has been formed.”
Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey, said: “I know from my own travels to the UK, Europe and the US that the message of Jersey’s digital growth and successes is getting through.
“Those who know what we’re doing are impressed. Those who didn’t know but then hear it from somebody with a connection to back home are wowed by our world- class digital infrastructure, well-regulated environment, excellent public and private sector co-operation, and initiatives such as our Sandbox Jersey testbed proposition. Now is the perfect time for our ambassadors to go spreading the word.”
