Today, some islanders will embark on their first journey to Portsmouth on the Stena Vinga, DFDS’s passenger and freight ship.
The journey marks a new era of connectivity between Jersey and the UK.
The Tarifa Jet will firstly arrive in Jersey’s port this afternoon, delivering 114 passengers to the island. Then the 125m vessel, Stena Vinga, will set off on its overnight journey to Portsmouth at 8pm carrying 266 passengers.
DFDS’s beloved mascot, Pirate Jack the Parrot, will be on hand to charm children and distribute special goodie bags filled with treats to commemorate the event.
Chris Parker, Jersey Route Director at DFDS, said: “We’re excited to finally be here, the first day of the next 20 years, and beyond we hope, of sea connectivity for Jersey. We’re dedicated to creating stronger ties between Jersey, the UK and France, and we’re thrilled to see families and the community come together for this celebration.”
