Dementia Jersey has announced the opening of its new dementia-friendly office.
The office has been designed to provide an accessible and comfortable environment for people living with dementia and their families who come for advice and support.
Located at a prime corner position opposite Bean Around the World and near the library, this new space, designed by Axis Mason and constructed by Style Group features:
- Two bespoke counselling rooms: Providing comfortable private spaces for one-on-one support from Dementia Advisors or Counsellors.
- Two meeting rooms: Facilitating group activities, workshops and community meetings.
- A disabled toilet and two further dementia friendly toilets.
- Space for 20 staff: Ensuring ample room for our team to work efficiently.
The strategic location of the office encourages the community to view Dementia Jersey as a central hub for support and information, promoting inclusivity and challenging stigma.
Creating a dementia-friendly office involves several key elements, including clear signage, lots of natural light, contrasting bright colours and a thoughtful interior design to ensure ease of navigation and comfort for all visitors.
Claudine Snape, CEO, said: “This is a real landmark moment for Dementia Jersey. We help other businesses achieve ‘dementia friendly’ status so It’s really important that we lead the way when it comes to dementia friendly design, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to achieve it with our own office design. We’re now a step closer to creating a dementia-friendly community in Jersey”.
