Deloitte in Jersey recently welcomed students from Oregon, who stayed with host families from Hautlieu School – one of Deloitte UK’s 5 Million Futures partner schools.
The students, aged 15 to 17, attend Baker City High School and Oregon International school. During their stay, they attended Hautlieu School to study the International Baccalaureate programme.
As part of the ongoing partnership with Hautlieu School, Deloitte hosted bespoke events that supported the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP). This programme is an alternative to A-levels and provides students with a mixture of both academic and real-world vocational learning.
Siobhan Durcan, Partner at Deloitte Jersey, commented: “We are pleased to continue to provide students from Hautlieu School with global career opportunities and qualifications, and extend this to their students arriving from the USA. Many of our people were educated at Hautlieu School and it’s a great opportunity for them to give back and nurture the next generation of talent.”
Deloitte has been helping Hautlieu students aged 16 to 18 since 2018 with interview skills, presentation skills and provides advice on how to build their own personal brand, all part of the firm’s commitment to investing in emerging and future talent.
Nick Falle (pictured with the students), Headteacher at Hautlieu School, added: “Thank you to the team at Deloitte for providing a very warm welcome to the students and to the host families. We look forward to more of our students furthering their professional qualifications and careers with Deloitte.
“The International Baccalaureate (IB) education focuses on personal development alongside an international mind-set to better prepare students to thrive at university with the learning and self-management skills needed alongside the ‘soft skills’ that employers are crying out for. Deloitte have supported our students for over 4 years’, and we are very grateful to their people for their ongoing time and support.”
