Deloitte have raised over £13,000 for their charity partner, Every Child Our Future (ECOF) over the past two years, of which £5,000 was donated by the Deloitte Charities Aid Foundation earlier this month.
The funds raised will go a long way towards the expansion of the Numeracy Skills Programme over the next twelve months and making a greater impact in supporting local scholars in improving their numeracy skills.
Over the past two years, Deloitte has trained 35 volunteers from their Jersey office and has spent a total of 500 hours actively supporting ECOF with weekly numeracy skills sessions at Springfield Primary and First Tower Primary Schools.
Lucy Le Poidevin, Programme Manager, explained to Channel Eye: “Deloitte’s contributions to Every Child Our Future have been invaluable throughout the two years that we have been partnered with them, and we are extremely grateful for their support, both in terms of donations and volunteering.”
ECOF, in partnership with the States of Jersey Department of Education, supports local primary school children across 20 schools to improve their reading and numeracy skills. ECOF also coordinates over 500 individuals and corporate volunteers to assist in improving reading and numeracy skills and developing futures.
Together with ECOF, Deloitte have implemented the pilot Numeracy Skills Programme at Springfield Primary and First Tower Primary Schools.
ECOF are looking to expand the Numeracy Skills Programme to three more schools in Jersey in the short term and twelve schools in the long term. Deloitte are entering their third year in partnering with ECOF and are committed to rolling out the Numeracy Skills Programme to further schools in Jersey, building on the success of the past two years and supporting more children in the community.
Siobhan Durcan, Partner at Deloitte Jersey, commented: “At Deloitte, we talk about ‘making an impact that matters’. We are extremely proud of the work we do with ECOF and the positive impact we have had on our community. We are excited to be entering our third year with ECOF.
“We are aiming to continue this partnership and expand our volunteering services into other schools. Working alongside with the charity has been incredibly encouraging for all our volunteers, especially during what has been an exceptionally challenging period. We are looking forward to continuing to support the exceptional work ECOF does for the local children through its numeracy programmes.”
