The Ports of Jersey is investigating options to have a deep-water berth for cruise ships.
The project, predicted to run into millions of pounds, is being considered as part of the Harbour Master Plan – this is due to be made public soon.
The cruise ship market is continually growing – Guernsey’s estimated income from cruise ship visits is estimated to be worth in excess of £4 million.
To date, 5,500 cruise ship passengers have visited the island.
The team from Ports of Jersey regularly attends seminars and exhibitions off island to promote Jersey as a destination for cruise ships.
Information on how the investment required for a deep-water berth will be achieved are yet to be decided.
