Dr Michaela Byrom has been appointed as a Sustainability Analyst at ESI Monitor, adding her experience and knowledge of data analysis to the growing business.
Dr Byrom has been working with ESI for several months on a project basis and has now joined as a permanent member of the team to capture data and provide analysis for ESI Monitor’s sustainability assessment framework clients.
Previously a resulting officer with the States of Guernsey’s Public Health Department. She assisted with the analysis of testing data collected to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr Byrom has also worked for Island Analysis as their head of research and with Guernsey Sea Farms where she was responsible for hatchery sustainability and biosecurity of the operation. She holds a PhD in Microbiology and Industrial Biotechnology.
“Michaela’s expertise is a great fit for the ESI team,” said director of standards and operations Ian Corder. “Data analysis is critical in establishing accurate and effective benchmarking on sustainability. Inaccurate data collection and processing can result in a false picture of progress against green goals. Michaela will be working with our clients to ensure they have the tools they need to effectively collect and manage their own data, making the assessment process easier and more effective.”
In addition to strengthening its Guernsey-based team, ESI Monitor has also expanded its operation in the UK, hiring three new people to meet the needs of its growing client base. Nathan McOwen has been hired as Digital Lead, developing new and innovative applications to make sustainability management more accessible to ESI Monitor’s clients.
Marta Toborek joins the team as Sustainability Analyst, contributing to the development of ESI Monitor’s scope of services and expertise. ESI Monitor has also hired Matas Ziemys as Business Development Executive, a role focused on expanding the company’s reach and building strong, long-lasting relationships with clients.
Two academic specialists have also joined the team to undertake research on sustainability in the corporate space. PhD student Thuy Nguyen joins the team as Research Analyst and is supported by Zahra Abdul-Malik, who is on a placement scheme as part of her Master’s degree.
