Visit Guernsey’s revealed a presence at two major travel shows themed around popular BBC television programmes will form part of their exhibition plan for 2018.
The team have already exhibited at the Destinations London show. It is the biggest and longest-running travel show in the UK, with around 50,000 visitors attending. They’ve also displayed at the Destinations Manchester show
In June, one of the nation’s favourite TV programmes, Gardeners World, is being brought to life in Birmingham. It will include the BBC Good Food Show with a Visit Guernsey stand positioned between the two attractions to promote the food festivals and autumn events.
For the first time, Guernsey will be represented at Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace in August. 120,000 fans of the show attended last year to celebrate all things countryside. This will be used to showcase Guernsey’s scenery and outdoor attractions.
Mike Hopkins, Director of Marketing & Tourism for Visit Guernsey, said: “The travel and consumer shows are held in targeted locations for us and last year‘s shows were an overwhelming success with prime stand locations allowing us to attract a good number of high quality visitors. New for 2018, the stand design includes Guernsey’s very own blue letterbox, which has been a great success in attracting interest from the public, many of whom are fascinated by the unique colour. This is a working letterbox, as visitors to the stand have been posting their entries inside it, to win a trip to Guernsey.”
The team have already attended Vakantiebeurs, the largest travel event in the Netherlands. It usually attracts more than 120,000 people and was used to promote the Rotterdam charter which operates weekly from April to September.
The Visit Guernsey trade team will be exhibiting at the world’s leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin in March and will be at the World Travel Market in London in November.
