Corbett Le Quesne is hoping to bring home the award for Family Law Partner of the Year: South.
Advocate Corbett was named Family Law Partner of the Year in 2016. Corbett Le Quesne was established in 2017 and has doubled in size in the last few years.
Advocate Corbett commented: “To be shortlisted this year after winning last year is a very pleasant surprise. We are the only family law firm in the Channel Islands to be shortlisted and in two categories. We have received lovely messages of support and we are so excited to be going to the award ceremony in London and seeing our colleagues from around the UK. Last year’s ceremony was online so we weren’t able to collect our trophy. Let’s hope we can celebrate in person this year!”
Advocate Le Quesne commented: “Barbara definitely deserves to be included in this list; she is an active member of the legal and wider community, being Deputy Chair of the Income Support and Medical Appeal Tribunals, a board member of the Jersey Legal Information Board and a Jersey Law Commissioner as well as being on the Jersey Children Panel and Mental Health Panel. She is also a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.”
“Barbara, in her capacity as a Law Commissioner, has been assisting policymakers in the preparation of drafting instructions in respect of amendments to the Children Law and Marriage and Civil Status Laws in Jersey in relation to parentage, particularly for same-sex couples. Barbara has long campaigned for no-fault divorce to be introduced in Jersey, writing the Law Commission paper on this as long ago as 2014. Barbara is also supporting changes to the archaic position in Jersey that means married women still have a domicile of dependence. She would be a worthy winner.”
The award ceremony takes place in London in November and their whole office is attending the event.
